This recipe is so simple and used in so many different dishes. I use this vegan parmesan in almost all of my pasta recipes or when you need a savory addition to a recipe.

  • Salt
  • Nutritional yeast
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder

How to make vegan parmesan recipe

You’ll need a food processor or a high-speed blender to make this vegan parmesan. Here’s the simple process:

This vegan parmesan is made from raw cashews, nutritional yeast, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.

How do I substitute nutritional yeast for parmesan cheese?

If you don’t want to make these vegan parmesan cheese you can sprinkle nutritional yeast over the top of any dish that calls for parmesan cheese. Nutritional yeast will add a cheesy flavor however, it lacks salt.

You can keep this vegan parmesan in the fridge for up to two weeks, in an airtight container.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup raw cashews
  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  • Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender or food processor. Pulse until you get a coarse consistency. You may need to scratch the sides a few times with a spatula.
    1 cup raw cashews, 2 tbsp nutritional yeast, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • Add additional salt and seasonings to taste as needed.

Notes

Optional: Add a pinch of turmeric powder to enhance the color of the vegan parmesan.
Store this vegan parmesan in the fridge for up to two weeks in an air-tight container.
Cashew nuts can be replaced with raw sunflower seeds. The result is a bit different but delicious too.
You can try mixing spices to develop flavors of vegan parmesan. Other options could be using smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, or your favorite cajun spice.
