It’s no secret that I’m a huge cookie fan. I love them all chocolate chip cookies, triple chocolate, snickerdoodle, and these sugar cookies (to name a few 😉).

What ingredients are in vegan sugar cookies

All you need are a few common pantry vegan staples to make these super tasty cookies! Here’s everything you’ll need to make them:

  • Vegan butter
  • Oat milk
  • Sugar
  • Vanilla Extract
  • All-purpose flour
  • Cornstarch
  • Baking powder
  • Baking soda
  • Salt

How to make vegan sugar cookies

To make this easy no-chill one-bowl vegan sugar cookie recipe follow these steps. Check out the recipe card below for the full recipe!

  1. Mix together the butter, milk, sugar, and vanilla. Mix until well combined and the sugar has almost dissolved.
  2. Next, add the cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well until combined.
  3. Slowly add the flour. Mix until combined but do not over-mix.
  4. Use a small/medium cookie scoop and add dough to the prepared cookie sheet. Press the cookies down slightly with the palm of your hand.
  5. Bake until the edges are just golden brown.

Store these cookies in an air-tight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Can you add frosting?

Yes! These cookies are super delicious topped with quick vegan icing or vegan frosting.

Do I need to chill the dough?

No! This is a no-chill recipe. They’re ready to enjoy in just 30 minutes start to finish.

Can I make shapes with this dough?

I have not tried to make this dough cut into shapes. This dough might be a bit too soft for that. I am in the testing phase of some fun cut-out vegan sugar cookies!

What can I substitute for butter in sugar cookies?

You can use vegan shortening instead of vegan butter in this recipe. This is not an oil-free recipe.

Why do my vegan cookies come out flat?

You may not have enough flour in the dough or you might have forgotten the baking soda or baking powder in this recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup vegan butter
  • 1/4 cup oat milk or any plant milk of your choice
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a cookie sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl mix together the butter, milk, sugar, and vanilla. Mix until well combined and the sugar has almost dissolved.

  • Next, add the corn starch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well until combined.

  • Slowly add the flour. Mix until combined but do not over-mix.

  • Use a small/medium cookie scoop and add dough to the prepared cookie sheet. Press the cookies down slightly with the palm of your hand.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are just golden brown. They’ll continue to firm as they cool.
